Job Title: Transport Administrator
Location: Stevenage (SG1)
Hourly Pay Rate: £11.67
Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Sunday between 06:00 and 22:00) Shifts are 10 or 12 hours.
Length of the contract: Until 30/09/2024

Gi Group are now seeking to appoint an experienced Transport Administrator to our Public Sector client based in Stevenage. The Transport Administrator will be responsible for the planning and transport for future dates and the control of ambulance service resources for the current day. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring that all patients using the client's transportation services get home as quickly as possible.

Duties of the Transport Administrator

  • Planning of transport for future dates.
  • Responsible for the control of ambulance services' resources, including Volunteer Car Service Drivers for the current day, re-arranging schedules where necessary.
  • Liaising between hospital staff, communications centres, transport offices, and ambulance crews to ensure patients are conveyed in the most effective and efficient manner, and the service level agreement is maintained at all times.
  • Entering transport requests into the computer system.
  • Managing resources to ensure patients are returned home promptly.
  • Assisting Ambulance Car Service Drivers with any problems or queries they have and liaising with the Operations Resource Coordinator.
  • Printing ambulance and car driver planned schedules for the relevant resource off the computer system each day and ensuring appropriate resources receive the work.
  • Keeping records of all patient arrival and departure times at the hospital.
  • Dealing with enquiries and complaints from designated hospitals and patients concerning ambulance transportation.
  • Assisting in the monitoring analysis of the service level agreement and liaising with the Customer Service Manager in providing a focused and reliable patient transport provision.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of service level agreements.
  • Undertaking 'front of house' responsibilities as patient liaison.
  • Assisting the Non-Emergency Services Quality and Complaints Manager.
  • Ensuring that all documentation is completed in accordance with the ISO 9001 / 2000 standard and assisting in the completion of audits.
  • Undertaking the training of new staff.
  • Managing leave requests and absence management for Patient Liaison Assistants.

Role Criteria

  • Good basic education to GCSE standard or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Previous experience in the grade of Patient Transport Assistant and/or experience of dealing with the public.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Willing to undertake a DBS Check.
