Senior Payroll Administrator

Our client seeks a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager/Senior Manager, you will provide an end-to-end payroll service, including auto-enrolment pension management, to a diverse range of clients using Sage Payroll. This role demands high accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex payroll processes.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls accurately and timely, including complex payrolls.
  • Perform manual SSP, SMP, and SPP calculations, verify against payroll software, and complete any necessary forms for the DWP.
  • Review client-provided information, raising queries as needed.
  • Generate and review various payroll system reports for managers.
  • Prepare report packs and publish them in VC.
  • Publish reports to clients via the portal.
  • Keep the work schedule current.
  • Finalize payroll and issue reports and online payslips upon client confirmation.
  • Pass banking details to managers for BACS submission.
  • Upload pension details to relevant providers within deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and statutory payroll requirements.
  • Produce year-end reports and issue P60s.
  • Assist with quotes for Cyclical Re-enrolment and submit the Declaration of Compliance with TPR.
  • Provide support and guidance to team members.
  • Perform other duties as required within the scope and grading of the role.

Essential Experience

  • High-volume payroll experience in a payroll bureau.
  • Working knowledge of payroll legislation.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident in client and colleague interactions.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and proactivity in managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, particularly with formulas.
  • Willingness to share payroll knowledge with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of auto-enrolment.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Sage.
  • Payroll experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Understanding of Directors NIC workings.
