Head of Procurement

The external environment has changed at an unprecedented rate in recent years. Within our core sectors Altair has provided critical support to clients in helping to navigate that change, respond to new challenges and be set up successfully for the future. ?

The stream delivers a range of services to clients across the housing, local authority, education, international, charity and sports sectors. Services include (but are not limited to):? Supply chain management, Strategic and operational procurement support, Procurement strategies, Effective and compliant delivery of procurement exercises.?

In addition, the stream works closely with other streams such as Transformation, Governance, Finance, Technology, Sustainability etc. to provide a wholistic service to clients. ?

Whilst there will be a strong focus on our core housing and local authority sectors, we also see opportunities to grow this service stream in other sectors such as education, sports and charities.?

You will also contribute to and support the wider growth and development of Altair's activities.

The main purpose of the Head of Procurement role is to lead the service stream. Key activities and responsibilities include: ?

  • Work with senior leaders in Altair to an agreed business plan for the stream?
  • Establish the range of services, methodologies and approaches for areas of work?
  • Lead the delivery of Procurement services to clients, ensuring high standards of quality and client satisfaction.?
  • Act as the lead individual responsible for the quality and successful delivery of all projects within the Procurement stream, providing expert advice and guidance on complex issues.?
  • Manage individual project and product stream budgets, reporting to the Altair Board on growth, performance and activities completed within the stream?
  • Leading on raising the profile of the stream across the sectors in which we work identifying new business opportunities and fostering client relationships?
  • Manage a team of consultants and associates specialised in Procurement service delivery?
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing Procurement activities, particularly in the Public Sector?
  • Monitor market trends and policy changes to adapt services and provide proactive solutions for clients.?
  • Have a strong focus on business development and marketing - working to build relationships with clients and identify new opportunities?

?Education

  • A good undergraduate degree - 1st or 2nd, or equivalent knowledge and understanding?
  • Professional qualification - MCIPS - Essential. CCMP - Desirable?

Knowledge and Experience

  • Leadership experience in Procurement services, preferably in the social housing (or related / public) sector and also as a consultant.?
  • Track record leading and growing a team?
  • Successful track record of working within the social housing or related sector?
  • Working with and reporting to key stakeholders including the Executive and Board?
  • Delivered high quality projects and making a significant contribution to positive outcomes on project type work.?
  • Working to multiple deadlines in a customer focused environment?
