Senior Crude Oil Trader

Summary of Role:

Responsibility for developing the Mediterranean, crude oil trading book and managing effectively, the associated trading risks.

Leverage marketing and trading activities and to contribute to the commercial success.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the Med crude oil trading strategies and develop the related marketing and trading opportunities in these markets
  • Liaising with relevant teams to ensure the successful execution of physical and financial trades
  • Establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, clients and other counterparties in Med and European markets
  • Deliver performance to meet the annual crude oil purchase and sales performance targets
  • Responsible for the efficient execution of the end-to-end process of negotiating business contract terms, the review of contract texts, coordinating contract approval and execution and risk management
  • Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships by regularly visiting them to establish their requirements and understand their future supply and demand potential, enabling my client to offer new business solutions
  • Undertake market research and evaluate new opportunities and the development of new clients, markets, new varieties and models in the Med
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all trading undertaken is within the authority of the role and company guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with the company's internal business processes and internal controls management system.
  • The post holder is required to undertake any tasks which may reasonably be expected within the scope of the role

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in international Trade and Shipping, Petrochemical, Marketing or another related subject
  • Significant international crude oil trade experience, including physical crude oil and hedging/paper trading experience
  • Have proven experience in trading in the Med and North Sea crude oil market
  • Possess strong operational understanding and discipline in managing trading positions
  • Demonstrable experience in developing new business in the international crude oil market
  • Experience in utilising fundamental and technical data to support trading strategies and associated risks
  • Possess high awareness and sensitivity to the crude oil and petroleum products market, with the ability to judge and control the risk of crude oil trading
  • The ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the company and wider Group
  • Experience of presenting ideas and opinions, written and verbally with clarity and confidence
  • A self-starter with excellent organisational skills
  • Possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrate an enthusiastic outlook and the ability to motivate staff
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities and teamwork behaviours
  • Additional language skills would be advantageous
