Job Title: Learning and Development Specialist

Location: Central London

Reports To: Head of Human Resources

Job Purpose: The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of employees within the building services firm. This role will focus on fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development to support the company's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Program Development:
  • Design and develop training programs tailored to the needs of various departments within the firm.

  • Create engaging and effective learning materials, including e-learning modules, workshops, and hands-on training sessions.

  • Ensure training programs are aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  1. Needs Assessment:
  • Conduct regular training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with department heads and managers to understand specific training requirements.

  1. Delivery of Training:
  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars for employees at all levels.

  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and formats, such as simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.

  1. Evaluation and Feedback:
  • Develop and implement evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of training programs.

  • Collect and analyse feedback from participants to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.

  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in learning and development.

  • Recommend and implement innovative training solutions to enhance employee learning experiences.

  1. Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure all training programs comply with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of training activities and prepare reports for management.

  1. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with HR and other departments to ensure training initiatives support overall business objectives.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external training providers and industry experts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Learning and Development Specialist or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using e-learning platforms and other training software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the building services or construction industry.
  • Certification in Learning and Development (e.g., CPLP, APTD).
