About the Role:

We are now looking for a Commercial Director with a difference, someone who knows the market and enjoys making changes. This is a senior role and you will have plenty of opportunities to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Commercial Director, you will lead an expert team of Sales and Project Design professionals. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Create new business opportunities by utilising your product and technical knowledge to create sound offerings in the specification market
  • Develop and implement commercial and sales strategies to achieve sales targets
  • Undertake structured forecast planning, market and competitor gap analysis
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with electrical wholesalers, electrical contractors and project specifiers and architects
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure product launches are successful
  • Management of key buying groups, negotiating and taking ownership for rebate terms and producing meaning reports and analysis
  • Lead, manage and coach the sales and project team, ensuring we get the best out of individuals
  • Develop and deliver product and CPD training
  • Utilise market knowledge and competitor analysis to provide insight into pricing strategies
  • Be proactively involved with tenders, quotations and complex customer requirements
  • Actively participate with providing content for social media activities and work with the Marketing team to strengthen the company brand
  • Attend relevant customer events, trade shows, exhibitions and promotional activities and ensure we engage with the right people at the right time

About you:

  • At least 5 years in a senior sales position with experience of managing a team
  • Experience of working in the electrical industry, and particularly strong in contractors/project specification environment
  • Proven experience of owning and delivering on sales strategies in multiple channels
  • Proven record of seeking new opportunities and building relationships with contractors/specifiers
  • Enjoys solving problems and finds unique ways to engage with new potential customers
  • Willingness to learn about the technical aspects of products, and the ability to keep up with technical advancements, particularly in the use of lighting systems and controls
  • Experience of undertaking gap analysis to look at things in the short and long term and can turn ideas into sustainable growth for the business
  • Experience of creating CPD training content and confidence to deliver in an engaging and meaningful way to customers/contractors
  • Enjoys helping to build the brand, active on social media with strong communication skills
