Buyer – Southampton (hybrid)

Summary

My client is recruiting for an experienced and well organised buyer, with experience in all aspects of the procurement process, to join their purchasing team. They supply independent retailers and consumers with products from several hundred brands. The role is split into five key aspects, sourcing, strategy, stock control, supplier relationships & problem solving all through managing your own set of existing supplier accounts.

Main Duties

  • Responsible for your own set of regular suppliers
  • Sourcing new suppliers/brands
  • Negotiating terms & conditions
  • Creating & implementing brands for key categories
  • Raising & expediting purchase orders
  • Controlling stock levels

Skills

  • Good practical knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Excel & Word.
  • Administration and the ability to use reports and spot trends.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Good supplier rapport.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Plenty of initiative and the ability to work both alone and liaising with a team.
  • Ability to cope with demands of a fast pace changing industry.

Benefits

  • Salary - £30,000 - £33,000 per annum depending on experience + monthly bonus.
