We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Business Technology and No7 Enablement team.

Reporting to the Technology Business Partner for Research & Development and Global Supply Chain. You will collaborate with internal and external teams to understand requirements and create suitable High Level Designs. You will review detail designs from partners and test the conformance of the implementation to the business requirements, agreed design standards, design deliverables and delivery approach observing architecture principles and guidelines.

About the role

You will join the Business Technology and No7 Enablement team at Boots Nottingham Support Office. We are a team of product owners, business analysts and delivery managers. You will work with teams across the business and our partners to develop the best solutions.

You will have no line management duties.

Assessment of business ideas

  • Support assessment of business ideas, project scoping, feasibility analysis (systems-based or other), and presenting options fitting within either a strategic lens or a tactical lens.
  • Apply current technology, tools and techniques according to established standard practices.
  • Assist with the investigation and cataloguing of functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring they align to the Outline Design and agreed scope.
  • Challenging, where relevant, to ensure the requirements align to a ‘value' driven approach.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical/administrative support and creation of business applications

End-to-end Solution design

  • Support the Enterprise Architecture in the development of the Outline Designs.

  • Being accountable for being the hands-on lead throughout the project life cycle, ensures:

  • Produce end to end Solution designs and documentation.

  • All solution designs meet agreed business requirements, align with Strategy and Architecture, it is cost effective, deliverable and supportable.

  • Supervise and review detailed designs produced by other resources, partners and third parties to ensure build and test deliver agreed levels of quality assurance.

  • Technical leadership and assumes overall design accountability within a project to ensure.

What you'll need to have

  • Experience in leading end-to-end Solution design / being the technical lead with multiple partners.
  • A broad and balanced understanding of IT capabilities, methods and technologies
  • In-depth experience of the development of IT solutions
  • Passion for keeping up with IT trends
  • Knowledge of processes in relevant departments (e.g. Finance, Ecommerce, Product Development)

It would be great if you also have

  • Broad knowledge and experience of the Research & Development (quality, safety, regulatory, product lifecycle management) and/or Supply Chain (demand and supply planning, supplier and customer collaboration, sales and operation planning and trade promotions and management)
  • Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA
  • Knowledge of other technologies such as E2Open, UpClear, Stibo Step and Master Control
  • Public Cloud technologies – Azure Cloud. Full range of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS products including Azure App services, Azure database technologies.
