Our Client, a thriving Business Services provider are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their team as a Health & Safety Consultant. This is an excellent career developmental opportunity with financial support to continue studies within Health and Safety.

Starting salary £32,000, with regular reviews as the role develops. A higher salary may be considered should you be able to demonstrate a higher level of qualification and/or study support is not required.

Training will be provided so this role may suit someone who has covered health & safety as part of their role and is looking to develop their career in this area /has done a related role and is looking for a career change to H&S and/or someone who has a level 3 H&S qualification and is looking to develop to the next stage in their career. The successful Health and Safety Consultant will be required to:-

This is a development role so the below responsibilities may not all be from day 1, but will be worked towards. This role will be predominantly working with Construction clients, so

  • Visit clients and undertake full health and safety audits and inspections.
  • Manage own diary, keeping in regular contact with clients, answering health and safety related queries.
  • Produce health and safety gap analysis reports, identifying areas where improvements are required and advising the client on improvement options moving forward.
  • Review the production of policies, risk assessments and method statements. (RAMS)
  • Support the client with other safety related systems and processes, such as Incident investigation, RIDDOR advice, COSHH documentation and management, workplace transport, asbestos management, as examples
  • Act as the key point of contact (competent person) for the client on any health and safety related matters.
  • Assist clients with the management and attainment of industry accreditations, such as CHAS, Safe Contractor or Construction Line.

The ideal Health and Safety Consultant will have:-

  • Full clean UK driving license - client base is predominately within the West and East Midlands.
  • Access to their own vehicle, with appropriate business insurance cover.
  • High standard of report and document writing skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Logical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Ability to research and apply advice, based upon the clients' legal duties.
  • Work experience in at least one of the following sectors would be advantageous; Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering, Warehouse/Transport.
  • Experience in a health and safety related role and/or a related qualification.
  • TechIOSH (or hold a suitable Level 3 qualification to achieve this such as NEBSOH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or NCRQ Certificate in Applied Health and Safety).
  • A genuine desire to grow your career within a supportive company.

Benefits to include:-

  • A competitive basic salary of £32,000. Should you be able to demonstrate a higher level of qualification there may be some flexibility on starting salary.
  • Salary will increase as experience, skills and qualifications develop.

  • Company funded qualification, eg. NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety. This is a career development role. The successful candidate will be provided with mentoring and access to team support, to attain the experience and skills required to achieve NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice. The company will allow study time, and fund fees for the qualification, after successfully passing the probationary period.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (30 min lunch break).
