Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or a recent graduate with a passion for supporting children whose first language is not English?

LTF Recruitment are currently seeking an EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated SEND team in an inclusive two-form entry central Coventry primary school.

The successful applicant will work in Key Stage 1, focusing on interventions for children who need support with English language acquisition. You will help children develop their phonics skills and support them during lessons, ensuring they can fully engage with the curriculum.

The Role:

  • Supporting Key Stage 1 children with EAL needs, focusing on phonics and early language development.
  • Lead targeted interventions in the mornings, helping children improve their language skills.
  • Provide support during class learning in the afternoons, helping children access lessons and fully participate in classroom activities.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes engagement and learning.
  • Implement individualised learning plans as directed by the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Support children in accessing lessons and developing their English language skills.
  • Monitor and record children's progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.

Who we are looking for:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with EAL needs.
  • Understanding of phonics and language acquisition strategies.
  • Knowledge of the UK primary curriculum.
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification is desirable.
  • Bilingual candidates who speak Romanian, Punjabi, or Polish would be highly beneficial for this role.
