Human Factors Engineer

We are looking for a highly capable, versatile and enthusiastic Human Factors Engineer to undertake a full range of Human Factors (HF) tasks across weapon system concepting, development and research activities. This presents a great opportunity for someone with a real passion for HF to meet the challenge of integrating HF into hi-technology projects with a diverse range of military user groups across.

Job Title: Human Factors Engineer

Salary: circa £55,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Bristol (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 2- 3 days per week on-site (flexible), due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

Our team work transversally across MBDAs projects through the development lifecycle providing capabilities to users across Land, Air and Sea with ongoing projects across Battlefield, Surface Attack, Deep Strike & Air Defence domains. As a partner in FCAS AP we are also at the heart of providing the effects element of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).

In your role you will be able to directly influence the development of these technologies, engaging directly with the user from early concept through to delivery ensuring that the human-machine relationship is optimised.

You will need experience of the application of Human Factors in the development of complex systems. This will include conduct of Human Factors Integration and Human Centred Design processes through the development lifecycle, analysis and assessment of the role of the human in complex systems, physical ergonomics and integration into workspaces, Human Computer Interface prototyping and design and the conduct of user experiments and trials supporting system development.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of the application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering
  • Human Computer Interface design expertise
  • Relevant Engineering or Science based Degree
  • Good understanding of Systems Engineering and disciplines who interact with Human Factors (Supportability, Training, Safety, Equipment)
