I am assisting an independent business who are based a short drive from near Boroughbridge as they are recruiting for a Buyer to join their team on a full time basis.

To be the successful candidate you will have experience in purchasing, negotiation, and supply chain management. If you have a strong background in procurement and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the department
  • Managing import and export clearances
  • Collaborating with the supply chain on ERP to ensure raw material availability and stock accuracy
  • Planning and placing purchase orders
  • Tracking purchases and expediting orders as necessary
  • Negotiating prices and terms & conditions with suppliers
  • Resolving supplier invoice queries
  • Maintaining the supplier database
  • Working with regulatory and quality teams on product and supplier approvals
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and new suppliers
  • Handling supplier complaints
  • Liaising with relevant departments
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by management
  • Taking ownership of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) responsibilities, addressing concerns within and outside their areas of responsibility by notifying relevant managers

Skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, Business Central 365, and strong IT skills
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to show initiative and excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Team player with the ability to work on cross-functional teams and projects
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
