We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Material Handler / Material Handling Process Engineer who has experience in a similar role, with strong problem-solving, numeracy and data analysis skills.

Working as the Material Handler / Material Handling Process Engineer you will join our established Materials team.

The Leyland Trucks Materials team has responsibility for managing the inbound supply of parts from our global supplier base into the Leyland Assembly Plant, with the requirement of achieving on time delivery whilst maintaining minimum inventory levels and optimising transport costs and storage space.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Material Handler / Material Handling Process Engineer include, depending on business needs:

  • Review and maintain the Material Handling assignments to ensure excellent levels of efficiency
  • Identify efficiency improvement opportunities within the Material Handling processes through the removal of waste
  • Control the decision making process around storage location and feed of material
  • Drive the expansion of tow train feed processes to reduce interaction between pedestrian and forklifts from assembly areas
  • Assist in development of future storage solutions to maximise storage densities throughout the site and to satisfy future volume requirements
  • Provide expertise in best ergonomic working practices within Material Handling

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the Material Handler / Material Handling Process Engineer you will:

  • Be highly motivated and capable of achieving excellent standards in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels
  • Be highly numerate with excellent data analysis & reporting skills
  • Have strong problem-solving skills
  • Be computer literate with excellent attention to detail
  • Have Lean / Green Belt Six Sigma (preferred)
