Customer Service Motor Claims Handler

Posted by NFU Mutual .

  • Begin your career in insurance claims handling with an award-winning company—no prior experience required as comprehensive training and support will be provided
  • Benefit from extensive career development opportunities within an inclusive and supportive environment, offering a focus on your personal and professional wellbeing
  • Work from home up to 4 days a week following successful completion of probation

Working Hours: We're offering a 35-hour working week with shifts from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm. There is no weekend work and, after completing probation, you can work from home up to 80% of the time with our hybrid model.

Start Date: We're aiming for a start date of 21st October, with earlier or later start dates considered on a case-by-case basis.

About the role

Here's an exciting chance to enter the insurance industry with a dynamic and varied role where no two days are the same! You'll be the go-to person helping customers navigate the ins and outs of motor claims, ensuring they get the support they need during tough times.

When you join us, you'll benefit from a thorough training programme that combines classroom learning with hands-on experience, all backed by support and guidance from your People Manager and seasoned colleagues. You'll get a solid understanding of the insurance market, the types of claims you'll handle, and how to manage them from start to finish. Even after your initial training, we'll continue to support you in shaping your career path in the way that suits you best.

As a Claims Handler in our Motor Claims team, your day will involve answering customer calls, handling their requests, and managing your own portfolio of claims. You'll work with a range of parties, including approved repairers, loss adjusters, and solicitors, as well as liaise with internal teams like Personal Injury, Third Party, Credit Hire and Engineering. Plus, you'll collaborate with our network of agencies to ensure seamless customer interactions.

Recruitment process: Our recruitment process consists of a couple of simple steps: a friendly introduction call with a member of our Resourcing team and a 2-hour, skills-focused assessment centre at our York office. Assessment centres will be held during weeks commencing 2nd and 9th September, with some sessions available in the evenings for your convenience.

About you

We are a company with a very strong customer focus and the ethos of wanting to help our customers with each claim to the best of our abilities. So what we will look for first is your empathy, eagerness to learn and commitment to doing a great job for our customers.

  • Strong customer focus to include recent customer service experience as essential
  • Effective problem-solving skills and confidence in making decisions

  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills to manage workload and focus on key tasks
  • Resilience in managing challenging conversations and working well under pressure
  • Collaborative team player mindset
  • Excellent IT skills with experience in data entry and using Microsoft Office applications

Whilst any prior experience in general insurance is a bonus, it's not essential for this role and we will provide you with all the knowledge and tools you'll need to succeed in the role.
