Position Overview:

My client is recruiting a Mental Health Solicitor with experience or knowledge in mental capacity and Court of Protection matters. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in mental health casework and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet the LAA supervisor requirements for the Mental Health legal aid contract.
  • Handle a range of mental health casework, including tribunal representation.
  • Address issues arising from s.117 aftercare.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Develop and implement compliant processes, procedures, and precedents.
  • Self-supervise effectively.

Requirements:

  • Experience across a range of mental health casework, including tribunal representation.
  • Knowledge of s.117 aftercare.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in creating and implementing team-wide processes.
  • Ability to self-supervise.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience in mental capacity and Court of Protection proceedings, including managing your own caseload.
  • Experience supervising other team members.
  • Relevant professional contacts and the ability to attract your own cases.
  • Ability to write and deliver training on mental health and mental capacity law issues.
