What you'll be doing as the instrumentation engineer

  • Instrumentation Activities: Plan, prioritise, and manage all instrumentation activities, including maintenance programmes, shutdowns, and emergency repairs.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Develop and implement procedures for production equipment and machinery. Monitor costs and effectiveness to optimise resources and meet safety standards.
  • Cost and Resource Management: Estimate costs, time, and resources for repair projects, prepare work orders and ensure budgetary control.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments, particularly for CompEx equipment, and ensure compliance with DESEAR and ATEX standards.
  • Field Instrumentation: Install and calibrate field instruments, including temperature, flow, level, and pressure transmitters and sensors.
  • Fault Finding: Use HMIs, PLCs, and SCADA systems for fault finding and loop tuning.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to breakdowns and malfunctions promptly to minimise operational disruptions.
  • Equipment Calibration: Set, calibrate, and adjust equipment to meet production specifications.
  • Contractor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external contractors, ensuring compliance with site regulations and standards.

What you'll need to apply for the instrumentation engineer position:

  • Fully completed apprenticeship with at least an NVQ Level 3.
  • Experience in calibrating field instruments and interpreting P&ID diagrams and electrical drawings.
  • Understanding of process control concepts and measurement systems.
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work procedures and contractor management.

What you'll receive:

  • Competitive salary up to £52,000.
  • Up to 10% bonus.
  • A call-out allowance of £2,550 is available after probation.
