As a Delivery Manager, you will lead the charge in planning and co-ordinating activities across multiple IT engineering teams working to successfully deliver changes and enhancements at pace across a range of product applications that support our stores and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with IT Engineering Managers and Key Stakeholders, coordinating delivery across several engineering teams in order to realise key business outcomes

  • Mobilise the engineering team(s) with support from the engineering manager(s), establishing a well-defined system of work including agile ways of working, ensuring teams are equipped to meet their objectives efficiently.
  • Partner with engineering teams and key stakeholders to review, recommend and execute the appropriate delivery methodology for new products and/or complex changes planned
  • Establish and maintain appropriate governance structures to guide and monitor the delivery process, evolving these in line with requirements and learnings to ensure the guardrails in place remain relevant to successful delivery
  • Break down the big picture into manageable chunks to enable delivery, by creating clarity from ambiguity with support from a Senior Engineering Manager when needed
  • Establish key milestones and deliverables to track and key stakeholders to report to
  • Provide guidance on how best to utilise JIRA or alternative available tools, where appropriate, to optimise use of roadmaps and set up dashboards to track progress
  • Create and maintain roll-out schedules, risks and dependencies logs, regularly reviewing these with the appropriate stakeholders to identify and plan for appropriate actions to be taken
  • Pro-actively gather the information required from various stakeholders and meetings to track progress against milestones, risks and dependencies for every new product and/or complex change planned and regularly report on these in the appropriate forums, always keeping key stakeholders informed
  • Plan significant deployments across a number of products ensuring relevant dependencies are identified and managed
  • Spot and highlight key risks and issues early, building a sensible approach to mitigation, securing the support of relevant stakeholders as and where necessary
  • Help others understand the rationale for a technical approach, dealing with ambiguity and conflicting demands, escalating where appropriate to resolve prioritisation conflicts
  • Drive post-implementation reviews to capture learnings, supporting our culture of continuous improvement and enabling learning to be shared with the wider community to apply learning to future Tech delivery

Experience Required:

  • Successful track record of delivering technical programmes in an agile and product driven matrix environment, with third-party and/or deployment complexities
  • Robust experience in tracking project progress and proactively identifying, mitigating and managing risks and dependencies across multiple workstreams
  • Proficient in establishing/working with RAID log and RACI/ARCI matrix
  • Self-starter mentality, demonstrating the ability to take initiative and drive tasks independently and proactively without explicit guidance
  • Experience working to deliver multiple workstreams simultaneously within and across projects
  • Expertise in agile methodologies with a solid understanding of digital product development, technology and software delivery, e.g. system design, software development or infrastructure management
  • Proven planning and prioritisation skills with the confidence to engage with multi-level stakeholders across cross-functional teams to get the information you need
  • Ability to work at a conceptual level whilst also being prepared to get into the technical specifics
  • Comfortable participating in technical detail, when needed, showing an understanding of the technical landscape and can describe technical choices and trade-offs to different stakeholders without and outside of Tech
  • Eye for detail and an excellent communicator, open-minded with the ability to pivot approach based on learnings
  • Proficient in stakeholder management, with the ability to establish and sustain strong, open communication channels across multi-level stakeholder groups
  • Retail or large Corporate environment desirable!
