Our client, in the defence sector, is currently seeking a Financial Controller to join their team in Bristol. This role is permanent. You will manage the central finance team and provide strategic input into decision-making, forecasting, and budgeting at a company level, while adhering to company policies and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, coach, and motivate the Central Finance team to develop their performance and ensure adherence to company values and policies.
- Oversee the consolidation, reporting, and analysis of financial results, budgets, and forecasts.
- Ensure the efficient utilisation and management of the company's finance system.
- Create and maintain a robust financial control environment, including quarterly reconciliation of the Balance Sheet.
- Manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors, ensuring timely filing of accounts and accurate tax returns.
- Analyse financial data to provide strategic insights and recommendations for the business.
- Monitor and manage inter-company agreements with group companies.
- Oversee sales and purchase ledger functions and provide overhead reporting.
- Ensure accurate maintenance and analysis of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Maintain fixed asset reporting and oversee annual audit exercises.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in financial and commercial management within the defence sector.
- Proven track record of managing a finance team effectively.
- Strong understanding of financial control frameworks and external audit requirements.
- Proficiency in using finance systems.
- Ability to consolidate and analyse financial data to provide strategic insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams.
