Qualified Childrens Social Worker - Duty and Assessment

Tripod Partners is Looking to place a Qualified Childrens Social worker with 2+ years PQE within the Assessment sector.

This role involves assessing the needs and risks to children who may be in vulnerable situations, including those who might be at risk of abuse, neglect, or other forms of harm.

Key Responsibilities:

Initial Assessments:

  • Conducting initial assessments of children referred to social services.

  • Evaluating the immediate safety and well-being of the child.

  • Gathering information from various sources such as schools, healthcare providers, and family members.

Duty Work:

  • Being on the frontline to respond to new referrals or concerns raised about a child.

  • Making quick decisions on whether a case requires immediate intervention or further assessment.

  • Managing crisis situations, including arranging emergency protection if necessary.

Case Management:

  • Handling cases from the point of referral through to closure or transfer to long-term teams if required.

  • Developing and implementing care plans to address the identified needs and risks.

  • Working closely with other professionals like healthcare providers, educators, and law enforcement.

Legal Proceedings:

  • Preparing reports for court and attending legal proceedings when necessary.

  • Ensuring all actions comply with relevant child protection laws and regulations.

Family and Multi-Agency Work:

  • Engaging with families to understand their situation and work towards the best outcome for the child.

  • Collaborating with multi-agency teams to ensure comprehensive support for the child and family.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification: A degree in Social Work, plus registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Social Work England in the UK).
  • Experience: Previous experience in child protection, safeguarding, and risk assessment is typically required.
  • Skills: Strong communication, decision-making, empathy, and the ability to work under pressure.

This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and welfare of children, often acting as the first point of contact for vulnerable children and their families.
