Industrial Disease Fee Earner

About the Role:
Our client, a leading national law firm with a strong reputation in industrial disease litigation, is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Fee Earner to join its growing Military Disease department, specialising in Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims. Working on behalf of major insurer clients, you will manage your own caseload of complex defendant-side disease files.
This is a superb opportunity for an experienced Litigator to lead in a specialist team, working on high-quality claims in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of NIHL and other short-tail industrial disease claims
- Review documents and prepare case strategy reports for insurer clients
- Handle disclosure, analyse evidence (including records) and manage case progression
- Conduct investigations with insured parties and obtain witness statements
- Instruct and liaise with experts and Counsel
- Attend conferences, court appointments and trials
- Draft court documents and routine correspondence
- Liaise with and take instructions from insurers and insureds
- Supervise and support the development of an Assistant Fee Earner
- Ensure adherence to court timetables and directions
- Maintain compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
- Align case handling with commercial and strategic objectives, ensuring profitability
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- Technically proficient in NIHL litigation; experience with other short-tail disease claims is desirable
- Strong negotiator with sound judgment and strategic thinking
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong organisational abilities
- Comfortable working under pressure and to chargeable hour targets
- Strong IT skills and proficiency with legal case management systems
