Senior Web Officer

Role Overview: We are seeking two experienced Senior Web Officers to join their team and play a pivotal role in the development of digital communications. As part of the council's project to enhance its website, these roles will work directly with various services across the authority to ensure high-quality content delivery across digital channels. The ideal candidates will have exceptional writing skills, experience with CMS systems like Umbraco, and a strong understanding of creating accessible digital content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage web content updates, ensuring high standards of digital communication across the council's website.
  • Collaborate with various service teams to support digital communication projects.
  • Apply technical expertise to develop and implement digital solutions for complex web projects.
  • Deliver digital communication solutions that help manage the council's online reputation.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and senior colleagues on digital projects.
  • Stay updated on emerging web technologies, ensuring best practices for web and digital solutions.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in web content management, ideally with Umbraco or similar CMS.
  • Strong knowledge of web usability, accessibility standards, and content management systems.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work within a political environment and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to train and mentor less experienced staff.

Qualifications:

  • Vocational or professional qualification with broad experience in web communication.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of web and digital best practices, including usability and accessibility.

Location: Hybrid (County Hall, Preston - As required)
Hours: 37 hours per week
