Location: Christchurch

Salary: £40k-£45k DOE

Aspire Jobs are working exclusively with our client who are a family owned and run, expanding business based in Christchurch, Dorset. Our client is a well established and growing SME. With a turnover of around £6.5 M the company continue to grow and develop new revenue streams.

The Head of Finance role will see you working as part of the senior management team covering all aspects of financial reporting and compliance, including the management of a small finance team.

The Head of Finance will undertake the management of the finance department and provide accurate and timely records, preparing company's financial reports, assist in the compliance audits and monitoring internal controls to ensure processes and adhered to. You will also advise the board on financial strategy and cash flow management.

Our client uses Priority ERP system across the whole company - experience of this would be preferred but is not essential. However, you should be good with systems and be willing to learn theirs.

The successful Financial Manager will:-

  • Have minimum 5+ years experience in an accounting or financial management role
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Be discreet and comfortable dealing with highly confidential information
  • Experience of data entry, creating and analysing reports and presenting findings at board level
  • Track record in successfully managing finance department for SME
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to challenge in professional and constructive manner
  • Proven experience in managing audit process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting pack (MIP) as required
  • Analyse financial data and provide/discuss major variances in board reports
  • Monitor cashflow and forecast future trends
  • Daily cashflow monitoring
  • Financial accounting (prepayment, accruals, journals, stock movement etc
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, recognising additions, disposal and calculating depreciation
  • Monthly payroll process, PAYE returns & HMRC submissions, Quarterly VAT returns
  • Manage pension provider and members
  • Company insurances
  • Staff & Directors expenses and sales commission payments
  • Work with external consultants/accountants regarding R&D tax relief claim
  • Ensuring the Company meets its statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax issues and keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation
  • Review and suggest cost-reduction opportunities
  • Develop relationships with external contacts such as auditors and solicitors
  • Line manager to 2 staff members
