Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a leading provider of utilities and energy services, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. In this role you will manage complex carbon reduction M&E projects play a key part in achieving the company's vision of delivering cost-effective solutions that save energy and promote a healthier planet.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience across the entire project lifecycle, from initial design through installation, commissioning, and operation of engineering systems.

This role involves close collaboration with the external design teams, investment grade audit team and assist the electrical engineers to deliver customized solutions that meet project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete mechanical designs and concept layouts drawings in 2D AutoCAD
  • Review and refine designs, project specifications, and ensure everything aligns with external designers and engineers
  • Partner with electrical design engineers to tackle complex mechanical design challenges for projects
  • Craft clear design scopes for external teams
  • Work on updates through testing, performance evaluations, and sustainability upgrades
  • Work collaboratively with clients, designers, suppliers, and subcontractors to evaluate new designs and solve complex technical challenges
  • Analyze and interpret data to gain valuable insights that inform your design decisions
  • Utilize engineering principles and techniques to effectively manage projects from concept to completion
  • Ensure designs are buildable and that risk is eliminated/ reduced at design stage

To be considered you will have:

  • BSc or BEng Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5+ years experience in building energy optimization for SMEs businesses in a commercial setting
  • Experience of working with Major Plant: Heat Pumps, Boilers, CHPs, Chillers
  • Excellent knowledge of supporting systems and control: Pressure vessels, Piping, Air Handling Plant, Pumps, Steam and Water systems, Metering, control valves (PICVs)
  • Proven ability to develop engineering schematics and translate them into clear concept layouts using 2D AutoCAD
  • Understanding of 3D CAD modelling and generation of engineering drawings.
  • An in depth knowledge of and ability to analyse existing and develop new HVAC systems, Steam, MTHW, LTHW, chilled water and DHWS designs and installations.
  • Test Plans / Protocols / Records / Reports

This role is full-time working in West London . Only candidates eligible to work and reside in the UK can be considered.
