Band 6 Occupational Therapist

We are looking for a senior occupational therapist for one of the trusts in Manchester. The trust provides high-quality mental health and learning disability services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester. They offer specialist assessments and treatment, aiming to provide the best care for both patients and those who support them.

Description:

The post holder will be expected to undertake all aspects of the role identified in the job description and meet the requirements of the person specification.

The core purpose of this role is to work across the older people's inpatient mental health service to embed the Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention pathway across the service within the framework of MOHO, in collaboration with the wider MDT staff.

The post holder will function as part of the MDT to deliver the interventions required to support individuals through their recovery pathway, equipping them with the skills and confidence to enable a safe discharge from the service, and supporting assessments and decision-making within the MDT.

The post holder will be highly skilled and competent in conducting OT assessments, developing outcome-based needs-led care plans, facilitating the implementation of the agreed plan of care, and evaluating its effectiveness using evidence-based outcome measures.

The post holder will provide a range of highly skilled interventions delivered both on a group and individual basis and share those skills with other team members.

The OT will be responsible for developing treatment plans and interventions to be delivered by the team's Technical Instructor and therapy support workers.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical skills in assessing and treating a range of conditions.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective rehabilitation and discharge plans.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrates evidence of recent CPD and an ability to reflect on experiences.
  • Experience with community-based pathways is advantageous.
