We are working with a delightful specialist school in Rowde who support young people aged 11-18 with Autism and other severe learning disabilities. They are looking for a compassionate Mental Health Support Assistant to join their wonderful team ASAP on a full-time basis.
As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will work with students, teachers and psychological professionals to gain valuable hands-on experience in the world of specialist education. The role of a Mental Health Support Assistant is perfect for someone who strives to have a meaningful and rewarding career in education or psychology. Your day would include:
- Supporting young people in the classroom on a 1 to 1 or group basis
- Working with complex social, emotional and behavioural issues to provide the best support possible
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment
- Support and encourage emotional awareness
- Develop and implement individual support plans in collaboration with educational staff
The right Mental Health Support Assistant will:
- Have experience working with young people - preferred but not essential
- Have a bubbly and outgoing personality
- Be someone who is capable of staying calm and compassionate in tricky situations
- Have plenty of patience
- Have a genuine passion to support young people with additional needs
