CAD Manager

The Role

As a CAD Manager, you will lead our Computer Aided Design (CAD) efforts to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of project outputs, including drawing production, 3D models, and other intelligent design outputs. Your knowledge and experience will be crucial in shaping the UU CAD strategy, embedding the latest technologies and systems into our design processes to enhance the overall efficiency of the design team.

Your expertise will be instrumental in helping UU achieve its ambitious objectives.

We are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance through our flexible, hybrid working model. While you will have the option to work remotely, you will be expected to spend at least three days per week at our Lingley Mere site in Warrington, ensuring valuable face-to-face collaboration with your team. Additionally, some travel to other sites across the North West will be required. During the initial phase, more frequent site visits may be necessary to help you get acquainted with the team and your new role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the CAD strategy, ensuring leading-edge systems and processes are deployed, and manage CAD resources to meet budgets and deadlines.
  • Provide technical development, support, and advice for all CAD applications, including managing key CAD applications and ensuring upgrade strategies are in place.
  • Work closely with Technology Services, internal clients, software vendors, and the information management team to ensure effective and efficient design delivery.
  • Lead and manage the UU CAD team, ensuring performance targets are met, and escalate any delivery issues to the Senior CAD Manager.
  • Develop and improve UU's Engineering CAD standards and procedures and support the Technical Management and Development of key CAD applications..

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified to HNC/HND level in relevant subject or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of providing technical advice, influencing and directing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
  • Excellent level of technical knowledge of CAD systems and technologies; in particular BIM, 3D Modelling, and intelligent P&ID systems.
  • Demonstrable leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills
