The Role

In this role you will be working in the school's early years class where most of the children have Autism. There are three classes in the Early Years Centre and a total of 24 pupils. You will work alongside the class teacher and other Teaching Assistants to provide 1 to 1 support to pupils through a range of play-based learning and development activities. You will be working with every child in the class at different points in the week. The pupils will require personal care, support with eating and daily tasks as well as support in lessons. You will be using a variety of teaching and communication methods including PECS Attention Autism and MAKATON.

The School specialises in providing tailored education for pupils with diverse needs, including Autism and severe/complex learning difficulties. With small class sizes and a team of specially trained staff, they offer a nurturing environment where each pupil receives the personalised support that they require in order to progress. Their integrated approach includes onsite Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy, ensuring that pupils receive comprehensive input to support their holistic development. The School is Ofsted rated Outstanding.
