Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Dagenham | Pay: £95 - £105 per day | Contract: Temp to Perm | Hours: 8:30 - 3:30 | Start Date: September
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support the educational and developmental needs of students with complex learning and physical disabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure each child receives the tailored support they require to succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with complex needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student's needs.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt lessons and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Support students in developing social, communication, and life skills.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance, as needed.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Encourage and promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with complex needs in an educational setting.
- A relevant qualification in special education or child development (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare).
- Strong understanding of various learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and behavioural disorders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and safeguarding procedures (training will be provided).
