Assistant Transport Planner / Administrator. Salary: Up to £26k + excellent benefits and career opportunities, Based in Aldridge, Walsall. Working days Monday-Friday

We require an Assistant Transport Planner / Administrator to work for a leading company at their Walsall branch. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Dispatcher and Branch Manager to plan, coordinate, and optimise transport routes, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of products to customers.

The ideal candidate will have some experience of working in a Transport Administrator, Assistant Transport Planner, Dispatcher / Coordinator role, though consideration will be given to candidates with other relevant experience who can demonstrate high attention to detail and organisational skills.

Key tasks:

  • Work with the Dispatcher to design and coordinate optimal transport routes for HGV drivers, ensuring swift and reliable delivery of products.
  • Engage with customers to keep them informed and satisfied regarding deliveries and collections.
  • Efficiently manage paperwork, from processing documents to ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Oversee a variety of administrative tasks, including invoicing, filing, and handling phone inquiries, to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Take charge of managing service requests and responding promptly to site breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Proactively plan and schedule preventative maintenance and annual inspections for HGV's and cranes, keeping the fleet in top condition.
  • Be a proactive team player, ready to tackle additional tasks and contribute wherever needed.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in a Transport Administrator, Assistant Transport Planner, Dispatcher / Coordinator or similar role would be advantageous but consideration also given to candidates from other backgrounds who have excellent administrative and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft office and other systems).
  • Excellent communication skills.
