The Role:

Starting ASAP, this specialist school is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Maths to lead the Maths department. This role involves overseeing the delivery of Maths education to students with ASD and other communication needs across both primary and secondary levels. The successful candidate will drive the development of innovative and effective Maths teaching strategies and lead a team of dedicated educators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Maths department, developing and implementing a strategic vision for Maths education.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated Maths lessons tailored to the needs of students with ASD and associated communication needs.
  • Support and mentor Maths teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated support for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Maths teaching and learning, making data-informed decisions to drive improvement.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and progress.
  • Oversee the assessment and tracking of student progress, ensuring accurate reporting and targeted interventions.
  • Participate in school leadership meetings and contribute to the overall development of the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a strong background in teaching Maths.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an educational setting, preferably with a focus on SEN.
  • Experience working with students with ASD and other communication needs.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and approaches for students with SEN.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and support a team of educators in a specialist school environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
