37.5 hours per week - Flexible across 7 days working between 9am - 9pm as required.

Band 8b - £36.19/hr (Weekdays), £45.24/hr (Saturdays) & £54.29/hr (Sundays & Bank Holidays)

Interim role until end of 2024 with possibility to extend.

Possibility to turn permanent for the right person depending on performance and departmental factors.

Overview:

South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Head of Facilities. This role demands a seasoned leader with a solid background in line management, particularly in Estates & Facilities or a similar environment. The successful candidate will possess a visible and engaging leadership style, ensuring the smooth operation and enhancement of our front-line services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Provide hands-on support to a Band 5 line manager, ensuring the effective management of front-facing teams. This includes offering guidance on employee relations, change consultation, and implementation, as well as providing clear line management advice to junior staff.
  • Consultation & Implementation: Finalise job descriptions and consultation documents for the reorganisation of the portering service. Lead the consultation process and oversee the successful implementation of the final proposals.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain day-to-day operations to the highest standards, ensuring service continuity and excellence. Support the development of business cases to facilitate necessary service changes.
  • Reporting: Complete all internal and external reporting, providing regular updates on progress, issues, opportunities, and learning to the Estates and Facilities Senior Management Team (SMT).

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a line management role within Estates & Facilities or a similar setting, with a proven track record of leading front-line services.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present consultation, policy, and procedural documentation effectively.
  • Proficient in navigating employee relations, providing sound advice, and showing visible support for staff. Experience in change consultation and implementation is essential.
  • Assertive and proactive in addressing day-to-day issues and challenges, with the ability to escalate matters appropriately and maintain operational boundaries.
  • Ability to work collegiately in a fast-paced, responsive environment, with a deep understanding of Estates & Facilities and its wider relational context.
  • Exposure to environments involving infection prevention control would be an advantage.
  • Ability to provide empathic yet clear responses, navigating ambiguity with patience and resilience.
  • Committed to maintaining morale and promoting staff engagement, understanding the critical impact of engaged front-facing staff on patient care.

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
