An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director to join Aon's ESG transaction advisory team, one of the solution lines within Aon's M&A and Transactions Solutions (AMATS) practice.

With ESG considerations continuing to receive greater scrutiny (both in a due diligence as well as in a portfolio context), we are looking to grow the AMATS ESG team and are looking for an experienced ESG professional who, reporting into the Global Head of ESG Transaction Advisory Services, can drive revenue growth while ensuring execution excellence across multi-disciplinary teams.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our London office.

What the day will look like

ESG / Climate Project Delivery

  • Lead the delivery and project manage ESG/ Climate engagements – in a due diligence or portfolio context – for AMATS' financial sponsor or corporate clients.
  • Work in partnership with / build a strong rapport with relevant teams in AMATS as well as Aon's Risk Capital and Human Capital businesses to enable effective execution.
  • Demonstrate success by leading multi-disciplinary project teams, delivering exceptional client outcomes, and driving execution excellence.

Business Development

  • Working alongside the AMATS coverage and other solution line teams, help to identify and target ESG / Climate pre-deal due diligence or post-deal portfolio opportunities.
  • Leveraging existing external contacts as well as the AMATS client base (both corporate and financial sponsor clients), drive revenue growth for ESG transaction advisory engagements.
  • Develop and maintain direct client relationships with relevant clients' ESG/ Sustainability teams.

Proposition Development

  • Building on the AMATS Climate proposition, support the refinement of the broader ESG transaction advisory offering – pre and post deal.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a subject matter expert with respect to Aon's ESG transaction advisory services – both internally and with clients.

Marketing

  • Expand the AMATS market presence around ‘ESG advisory in a M&A/ deals context' and proactively contribute to relevant thought leadership articles, develop both internally and externally facing collateral and share insights at relevant conferences/ events.

How this opportunity is different

Our Transactions Solutions (TS) capabilities deliver structured risk transfer instruments covering Warranty & Indemnity insurance and a range of risk transfer solutions for tax, litigation plus other contingent risks. Finally, we arrange credit/bonding solutions to enable clients to optimise their capital structure.

We have dedicated coverage teams across Financial Sponsors (PE and Infrastructure), Corporates plus Professional Advisors (Investment Banks, Lawyers, Big 4). We support clients across a wide range of transactions including typical buy and sell-side deals, carve-outs, public market transactions (IPO and P2P), distressed M&A plus secondary market deals. Our mix of deals include both UK domestic and international transactions, cover the full valuation range from the largest, most complex multi-billion deals to sub-£50m transactions. We also support our financial sponsor clients with portfolio enhancement and optimisation using our TAS and TS solutions as well as the broader suite of services and solutions drawn from the wider Aon organisation.

The AMATS team provides both deal advisory services and a wide range of transaction solutions to clients undertaking M&A activity across UK and EMEA. The Pan-European team has grown rapidly in the last four years with over 85 colleagues in the UK and a total of 250 across EMEA. The team has a diverse range of backgrounds including investment bankers, Big 4, lawyers, actuaries, plus technical specialists including insurance.

The team's focus is across two core strategies. Firstly, to be the leading provider of specialist Transaction Advisory Services (TAS). This includes specialist due diligence capabilities across Risk and Insurance, Cyber, Human Capital, Intellectual Property And ESG.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • An ESG/ Sustainability professional with a track record of relevant sustainability-focussed advisory experience (gained either in-house or at a management consultancy).
  • Deep knowledge of the evolving ESG regulatory landscape (both voluntary and mandatory) and the impact on ESG Due Diligence, disclosures & reporting.
  • UK/EMEA or broader experience in M&A or other transactions; preferably with infrastructure sector experience
  • Demonstrable evidence of excellent project management skills with experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams.
