Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Youth Worker with expertise in working with young people with challenging behaviours to join our team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the underlying causes of challenging behaviours in young people and a proven track record of implementing effective interventions and strategies to support them.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized behaviour support plans for young people with challenging behaviours, in collaboration with families and other professionals.
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to young people with challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour management strategies and evidence-based interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and external agencies to provide a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting young people with challenging behaviours.
  • Lead group sessions and workshops to support young people in developing social and emotional skills and managing their behaviours.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with young people and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of young people with challenging behaviours and support them to actively participate in their communities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in a related field, such as social work, psychology, counselling, youth work or education.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with challenging behaviours and a deep understanding of the underlying causes of challenging behaviours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with young people, families and professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, volunteers and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn new skills and approaches.
  • Flexibility and ability to work outside of regular business hours as required.
