About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Lettings and Income Protection to lead our Income, Lettings and Money Advice Teams. The successful candidate will ensure our customers sustain their tenancies through prevention, early intervention, and enforcement in rent collection. Your role will be crucial in minimising evictions and maximising income for Rooftop. You will also support customers in maximising their income through welfare benefits and grant funding to support effective money management.

As a member of our Leadership team, you will be responsible for achieving the organisation's objectives and ensuring activities are carried out to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. You will play a key role in maintaining our G1 status by ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the Income, Lettings and Money Advice Teams to ensure homes are let quickly, minimising void rental loss.
  • Develop a high-performing and highly motivated Income Team with a strong customer focus.
  • Act as the strategic lead for income collection and tenancy sustainment, owning the associated policies, procedures, systems, and data.

Strategy and Performance:

  • Deliver the Income Collection and Maximisation Strategy, meeting specific targets for arrears and income collection.
  • Commission the analysis of relevant data, identifying effective strategic interventions to improve income collection rates.
  • Prepare, maintain, and take responsibility for strategic and annual business planning.

Service Excellence:

  • Ensure Rooftop delivers excellent services by providing high-performing, innovative income management and lettings services focused on customer engagement and support.
  • Produce clear, informative, and meaningful reports for senior stakeholders on the performance of the Income Collection Service.
  • Ensure effective internal business processes are in place to support income collection strategies, including early intervention, arrears recovery, and tenancy sustainment.

Risk and Compliance:

  • Maintain the relevant elements of the Risk Management Framework and the Assets and Liabilities Register.
  • Ensure fully compliant internal audits, providing assurance to the Audit & Risk Committee and Boards.

Team Development:

  • Effectively lead and manage direct reports and the team, ensuring responsibilities are exercised in full.
  • Provide regular one-to-ones and reviews to manage colleague performance, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • With HR support, ensure team members receive all mandatory and specialist training.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIH Level 5 Professional housing qualification.
  • Strong operational experience in income collection and tenancy sustainment.
  • Experience leading teams at a senior level within a Housing Association or Local Government setting.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver against an income collection/maximisation strategy.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards related to social housing, income collection, and welfare benefits.
  • Relevant leadership/management experience.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven track record of developing a key service provision within a complex multi-site organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex income and tenancy sustainment performance-related information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage conflicting priorities under pressure.

Additional Information:

  • This role requires a standard DBS check in accordance with the Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
  • A full and current driving license and use of own vehicle insured for business use is required.
