Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Reading
Contract Type: 6-12 months(Self-employed, outside IR35)
Hourly Rate: £34-44 per hour
Accommodation Allowance: £250 per week (for those requiring overnight stays)
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter or Black or Grey Hats to join the team at the Nuclear site. The role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, with a focus on high precision and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Assembly & Installation: Fitting and assembling components for various mechanical systems as per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, identifying faults, and performing repairs.
- Testing & Calibration: Inspecting, testing, and calibrating mechanical systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhering to site safety protocols, including the use of PPE and ensuring all work complies with standards and regulations.
- Documentation: Completing necessary paperwork, including job reports and maintenance logs.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter in industrial environments, preferably within the defense and nuclear.
- Qualifications: Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Fitting/Engineering.
- Tools: Competency in using a range of mechanical tools and equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and diagrams.
- Safety Conscious: Strong understanding of health and safety practices, particularly within controlled environments.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working on high-security or restricted-access sites.
- SC clearance.
Working Hours: Standard site hours up to 50 a week.
