Assistant Accountant

Our client is a leading player within pension investments based here in Central London. They have a 12 month FTC requirement to bring in an Accounts Assistant to focus on various aspects of financial reporting, analysing and formatting financial data via Excel and most importantly communicating with senior internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist in providing oversight over the third-party costs and charges administrator (ClearGlass), working with ClearGlass to ensure that data being provided by fund managers is as accurate as possible and provided within required timescales, and escalate where there are any issues.
  • Derive expected costs using relevant information to analyse and validate third-party data.
  • Carry out an extensive review of investment management costs and charges data, such as management fees, performance fees, transaction costs and others across all portfolios, and report to each client.
  • Calculate the impact of investment costs and charges on performance to show return both before and after the deduction of fees.
  • Preparation of internal investment costs and charges reports for portfolio management teams.
  • Where required, provide support in the production of the annual statutory accounts for LPP entities
  • Where required, liaise with external auditors during interim and year end audits.
  • Assist in preparation and/or maintenance of relevant Finance team policies and procedures.
  • Act as Systems Expert for the Dynamics accounting system and provide support to users of the system where required.
  • Provide support to the Financial Reporting team, and wider Finance team on occasion, to manage fluctuations in workload and meet deadlines.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting projects and contributing to team initiatives.

Requirements for the role

  • Studying towards chartered accountancy qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
  • Keen interest in investment funds
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics accounting system would be beneficial
  • Excellent attention to detail, demonstrable ability to carry out tasks with high accuracy
  • Team player with ability to engage productively both within and outside their immediate team to produce results
  • Strong understanding and experience of MS Office suite with intermediate Excel skills
