Length of role: Initial 3 months.
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Quantity Surveyor to join our Capital Development and Delivery Team at the Council. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Professional Quantity Surveying (PQS), particularly within the public sector. The successful candidate will provide a full range of Quantity Surveying services on complex projects, ensuring innovative and creative service delivery to our communities.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide Pre-Contract and Post-Contract Quantity Surveying services on complex projects.
- Promote best practices in project and programme management, cost control, and construction procurement.
- Support, motivate, and lead people within the team, contributing to the continuous improvement and development of the Service.
- Manage projects and staff effectively to meet service key performance indicators, customer objectives, and capital programmes.
- Ensure high standards of customer care and professionalism when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- Comply fully with EU procurement and Public Procurement Rules.
- Prepare and agree on final accounts, including checking the accounts of specialist subcontractors.
- Set up Construction Partnering Frameworks and negotiate commercial agreements as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Quantity Surveying related qualification to graduate level with appropriate experience in a multi-disciplined professional design organisation.
- Chartered member of RICS with significant post-qualification experience is desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction and procurement processes, contract administration, and technical language.
- Ability to apply financial control and manage the complexities of multi and single disciplinary design projects in a politically sensitive and commercial environment.
- Full and valid driving licence as travel is an essential part of this job.
- Ability to attend occasional project meetings outside of normal office hours and visit construction sites, including ascending and descending scaffolding.
