Data Governance Manager

We are partnered with a dynamic, forward thinking FinTech in their search for a Data Governance Manager to be responsible for managing the data governance activities and have responsibility for improving data quality and the governance of data assets.

The role will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise-wide data governance framework. This is to achieve the required level of consistency and quality in data, ultimately improving the business trust in data.

This role can be home-based for the majority of the time with very occasional travel to the UK office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on data risk management across the business
  • Translation of polices into a meaningful set of actions to improve the management of data
  • Assessing data quality, completing root cause analysis where data quality is impacted and making recommendations to improve
  • Identifying business functions that is managing data locally and where appropriate implementing robust controls
  • Be the lead on driving any audit findings around data to demonstrate and improvement in the businesses practices of data governance
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on data related issues, working collaboratively with various stakeholders to communicate data risks and administer guidance, training and educational materials when required
  • Completion of data governance documentation such Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA), Record of
  • Processing Activities (RoPA) & Cookie Privacy Assessments
  • Design and implementation of 1st line exception reporting

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree/Advanced degree and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial services organisation, with data or project management and oversight experience.
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Knowledge of data architecture and technology solutions
  • Ability to effectively communicate insight to other business units
  • Can prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
