Salary: £31,350-£47,839 + SEN1 allowance £2,539 (COREM1-EXCELM3 MPS/UPS)

The School is a strong and vibrant special school with places for 146 students aged 11-16 years who have learning difficulties and additional needs. More than one in three of their students have a diagnosis of autism. They are based in Farnham and are a member of the Multi Academy Trust.

The Role

The school are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and innovative teacher with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high standards to join their English department.

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background, be an excellent classroom practitioner who is capable of inspiring and motivating students and have experience of working with children with special educational needs (please note this does not need to be within a special school setting).

The majority of their students are working at a KS1 and KS2 level with a small number studying GCSEs in English, Maths and Art.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school's plans, curriculum and schemes of learning
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned students, making accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Lead Annual Reviews for students in form group
  • Ensure all provision specified on EHCP is in place
  • Adapt, personalise and differentiate lessons to accommodate student SEND
  • Undertake the role of Form tutor
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies, practices and procedures, so as to support the school's values and vision

Skills and Qualifications

  • Has qualified teacher status with a degree qualification
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • A proven record of sustained effective classroom practice, demonstrating effective outcomes
  • High expectations and shows a passionate commitment to developing the best in young people, with a relentless focus upon ensuring excellent attainment and outcomes
  • Has a record of successful working with parents as partners in learning
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating teacher effectiveness in relation to standards and outcomes
  • The ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with students
  • A commitment to inclusive education
