Building Safety Manager Social Housing

Hays are working with one of Northern Ireland's largest housing associations to source a Building Safety Manager. This association provides a wide range of housing support and care services to communities all over Northern Ireland.

Your new role
This is an initial 3-6 month contract with the potential to extend. Working within the Asset department, you will report to the Director of Assets on all health, safety and compliance for existing stock to ensure the association meets its statutory, regulatory and legal obligations as a social landlord.The Building Safety Manager will provide leadership and line management to the relevant Assets Team to ensure a high-quality service is delivered in accordance with the Association's policies and procedures.Some of the main duties include:

  • Operate, maintain, and review procedures and systems in line with a quality management system and external agency auditing requirements.
  • Ensure all regulatory and legislative risks associated with building health, safety and compliance are managed effectively.
  • To lead the organisations response to fire safety, gas safety, asbestos, legionella and LOLER as Responsible Person to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Develop and monitor operational plans in respect of compliance service delivery.
  • Be responsible for identification and resolution of any instances of non-compliance.
  • Develop and manage annual programme of cyclical service maintenance.
  • Provide regular performance reports to Board and Senior Management Team on the status of compliance across the organisation, in addition to performance updates on operational delivery of compliance services.
  • Provide specialist advice, training and support to staff on health and safety related issues and contribute to the wider risk management agenda.
  • Provide strategic H&S advice and support on all matters of H&S.

What you'll need to succeed
To be eligible for this position you will have:Level six qualification (e.g. Bachelor's Degree, Graduate diploma) or above in a Health and Safety, Construction or Facilities Management related discipline.AND3 years' relevant experience of health and safety and/or construction at a supervisory level.OR5 years' relevant experience (as outlined above).

Relevant experience must include:

  • Management and application of health and safety legislation
  • Providing advice on statutory compliance.
  • Responsibility for designated budgets and associated expenditure.
  • Procurement of technical works and/or services.

What you'll get in return
Full-time, 37 hours per week

Start date - asap

Salary - £43,421 to £53,630 per annum, pro rata (based on 37 hours per week)

Location - Holywood / BelfastHybrid working is available.

34 days annual leave including stat days
