Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary School Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant school in Manchester.

This is a long-term position available from September, supporting Key Stage 2 students. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the education and development of young learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of high-quality education to Key Stage 2 students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active student engagement and a love for learning.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and conflict resolution skills.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, contributing to assessment and reporting processes.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment, building positive relationships with students and helping to develop their self-esteem and confidence.
  • Encourage student's independence and self-reliance, while providing appropriate guidance and support when needed.
  • Support students during educational outings and extracurricular activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Collaborate with other members of the school staff, including the SEN Coordinator, to ensure the specific needs of students are met.
  • Help with administrative tasks, such as preparing learning materials, organising resources, and maintaining student records.
  • Contribute to the school's wider community by participating in school events, parent-teacher meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures to ensure the well-being and safety of all students.
  • Stay up to date with current educational practices and policies, actively engaging in professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting, preferably in Key Stage 2.
  • Sound knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to undergo the process.
