Job Title: Deputy Manager - Residential Care Home

Salary: £32,000 - £35,000

Location: Birmingham

They are seeking a committed Deputy Manager to assist in the effective management of their residential care home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Residential Support Workers (RSWs) and ensure the smooth running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Oversee the day-to-day safety and welfare of the home, young people, and staff.
  • Assist in the management and quality of life enjoyed by the young people.
  • Conduct and oversee risk assessments, ensuring staff adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Promote a positive and caring environment, catering to the needs of each individual young person.
  • Support staff development through mentoring programmes and address any negative practices.
  • Handle referrals and make sound decisions considering placement matches and the welfare of current residents.
  • Coordinate and monitor staffing levels to meet individual needs.
  • Participate in the selection and recruitment process of new staff.
  • Organise and deliver induction, supervision, appraisal, and support to staff members.
  • Ensure care plans are implemented in line with legislation and company guidance.
  • Chair meetings as required and act as the designated person in charge in the Registered Manager's absence.
  • Participate in an on-call system outside of designated hours.
  • Implement relevant safeguarding procedures and ensure the protection and welfare of young people.
  • Maintain standards in line with the Care Standards Act 2000 and Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and environmental health needs.
  • Adhere to company's accounts regulations and manage identified budgets.
  • Promote contact between young people and their families.
  • Liaise with other professional agencies and maintain quality initiatives within the home.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working in childrens residential care.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and team-building abilities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
