Assistant Tax Manager

We are searching for a motivated and technically excellent Assistant Tax Manager to support the Company Director and help shape the company as it continues to grow.

The role will suit an ambitious tax accountant, qualified to FCA/ACA/ACCA or CTA level, with significant tax and corporate tax experience who is able to review and complete accounts and tax returns and can offer our clients enhanced knowledge and advice when it comes to tax efficiencies.

The office is easily accessible being located just a few minutes off the M5 and the role comes with a number of benefits.

Main Responsibilities

Delivering a high quality service to our clients on a wide range of accounting and taxation matters and help guide, support and develop the team. More specifically, the responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a small portfolio of clients;
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date knowledge of all current tax legislation;
  • Ensuring compliance deadlines are met and beneficial claims and elections are made within deadlines;
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, self-assessment tax returns, Corporation Tax returns and VAT returns;
  • Responsibility and management of an Accounts Senior/Accounts Semi Senior/Accounts Assistant;
  • Supporting the development and management of the team, including running team meetings, coordinating training and development;
  • Helping monitor the flow, accuracy and quality of work within the team;
  • Identifying opportunities for new client work;
  • Monitoring client fee costs against budgets, keeping write-offs to a minimum and negotiating fee increases as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required

  • A Charted Accountant specialising in tax (FCA/ACA/ACCA) or CTA with ideally at least 7 years' previous experience of working in a tax role within an accountancy practice;
  • Has tax planning and advisory experience with a variety of different sole traders, partnerships, limited liability partnerships and limited companies;
  • Up to date understanding of current UK tax law;
  • Has a high level of analytical skills and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice;
  • Experience of managing individuals or is ready for progression into such a role;
  • Strong commercial focus with the ability to drive profitability throughout the team.

**Hours

28 to 35 hours per week between Monday and Friday.
