Your new role
As the Interim DC Manager, you will be responsible for leading the 24/7 operation, ensuring visionary leadership, strategic thinking, effective cost control, and successful management of labour, productivity, quality control, and safety measures. You will maintain compliance with legislation and deliver through the company's values and sustainability goals. Referred to as the Architect within the management team, you will precipitate change to unlock efficiencies and work with the Operations Business Delivery Director to standardise processes and deliver strategic objectives. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work on-site at least four days a week.
Key Accountabilities - Operations:
- Provide visionary thinking to keep the business moving forward with long-term sustainability, operational recommendations, and updates to strategic plans and reviews; devise and implement related action plans.
- Review and implement safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale-related key performance indicators (KPIs), embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee and develop the management team, building inter-department and site relationships to foster a culture of mutual trust and respect.
- Manage projects both as a stakeholder and a leader.
- Monitor and control variable costs to ensure budgets and profit targets are met.
- Deputise for the Director as required, attending meetings and developing links within the Operations Executive.
- Proactively build and maintain a full understanding of the business's services and products.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with publishers and key stakeholders to effectively communicate and resolve queries and issues related to distribution.
Key Accountabilities - People:
Identify potential in the team and ensure relevant development plans are in place in line with the Talent Management Strategy. Address poor performance appropriately.
Ensure all managers are aware of their own performance and that of the location.
Champion professional practices and behaviours, ensuring all staff are trained effectively. Coach and mentor managers to support the creation of a coaching culture.
Communicate job expectations by planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing operational requirements with the Production Managers.
Key Accountabilities - Compliance:
Maintain the company's health, safety, and security standards while ensuring that standard operating procedures are adhered to.
Review and maintain policies and procedures to keep up with current legislation.
Deliver against company scorecard KPIs and objectives, ensuring high productivity and efficiency.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in project management, both as part of a team and leading a team.Experience in a time-sensitive environment with various sites and managers.
Proven experience in managing change and initiating improvements, maintaining objectives/KPIs.
Experience in recruitment and selection.
Proven ability to proactively spot and solve problems.
Displays enthusiasm and drive for achieving high standards.
Ability to remain calm in pressurised, time-sensitive situations.
Experience in budget management, high commerciality, and financial acumen.
Advanced knowledge of Excel

Qualifications:
Management degree or equivalent working experience.
Multi-site management experience.
Project management experience
