School Chef

We are seeking a dedicated School Chef to join a highly regarded primary school in Bedford. This full-time role is set to commence in September/October 2024. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals that cater to the dietary needs of young students, as well as managing kitchen operations efficiently.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Plan and develop menus considering the dietary requirements of students.
- Monitor stock levels, ensuring date rotation, portion control, and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Set up and clean down kitchen areas before and after daily use.
- Prepare in advance to meet the day-to-day and weekly demands of the school.
- Minimise waste through careful observation and planning.
- Cater to staff and pupils with special dietary needs, ensuring their requirements are met with suitable food options.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a chef, preferably within a school or similar educational setting.
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements, particularly for children.
- Strong organisational skills to manage kitchen operations and stock.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Flexibility to cater to various dietary needs and preferences.
