The Company

Our client is made up of Audit Ltd a firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors and they are a firm of Chartered Tax Advisers based in North West London. We provide a wide range of services to businesses and individuals, mainly either in the London area or international businesses operating in the UK. The firm has been well established and trading for over 21 years and has approximately 25 staff and has seen significant year on year growth.

The successful candidate will be working as part of the Audit & Assurance department and will be working directly with at least 6 people and will also be collaborating with the non-audit service teams. The firm prides itself on having a modern forward-looking approach and the Audit & Assurance team is seeking to recruit an individual who shares the same positive outlook. The department is led by a highly motivated Director who has a top 5 accountancy firm background and has ambitious-growth plans for the department and firm.

The Role

  • Reporting directly to the Audit Manager.
  • Being part of a high-growth, young, energetic and ambitious audit team.
  • Responsibility for being "in-charge" and leading audit assignments (statutory, non-statutory, CASS and service charge audits).

o For smaller audits this may involve working alone from planning through to completion and reporting directly to the Director;

o For larger audits this may involve supervising and developing a team (this could be a mix of internal staff and external contractors) and reporting to the Audit Manager.

o From time to time, you may have access to the Accounts Team to utilize their team members within your audit team, which will be on a job-by-job basis where necessary.

  • Managing your own time and supporting the development of junior team members.
  • Working on small, medium and large sized audit clients including UK multi-national and private groups, along with PE-backed enterprises.
  • Managing corporate clients including those with complex issues requiring higher levels of ad-hoc work.
  • Ensuring pro-active planning & execution of all audit engagements, including open and close meetings with clients.
  • Business development and upselling opportunities by proactively managing existing clients.
  • Reviewing and appraising internal working practices, identifying areas where efficiency improvements can be made whilst ensuring high audit quality is maintained within the Audit & Assurance function.
  • Establishing the audit approach; reviewing audit work papers and ensuring that audit files are completed in a timely manner, in line with expectations (internally and externally) and to budget.
  • Specific responsibility for a small group of junior employees to ensure audit work is appropriately completed to satisfy audit objectives.
  • Acting as a trusted business adviser to clients, supervising / in-charging a varied and growing portfolio and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • You will be required to assist in the production of statutory accounts and any other matters as the practice so requires.

Skills

Essential

  • Qualifications:
  • Part qualified ACA Accountant
  • Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within an Audit and Assurance department
  • Good knowledge of FRS 102 / UK GAAP
  • Good knowledge in using Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • Experience of using CaseWare audit software (or a similar audit software)
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the Manager's and Director's needs
  • Good organisational, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Pro-active and autonomous approach
  • Ability to coach and train in a supportive manner
