Caretaker
- Location: Clifton, Bristol
- Job Type: Part Time - 30 hours (8:30 - 14:30) with potential overtime
- Salary: £20000 - £25000
We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to play a crucial role in the upkeep and maintenance of our Cathedral and its grounds. The ideal candidate will ensure the Cathedral remains a clean, tidy, and safe environment for all visitors and staff.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Maintain the exterior and interior cleanliness and tidiness of the Cathedral, either through personal efforts or by coordinating with external contractors.
- Serve as a member of the Cathedral's Property Committee.
- Act as one of the authorised key holders for the property.
- Provide advice on urgent or long-term maintenance needs requiring contractor involvement.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of major services and concerts.
- Oversee the safety and security of the Cathedral, ensuring compliance with Diocesan Health and Safety guidelines.
- Perform small repairs and maintenance tasks, including work on electrical and heating systems, as well as flat roof inspection and upkeep.
- Liaise with contractors for more substantial repairs and improvement work.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in caretaking or a similar role, preferably within a similar setting.
- Knowledge of basic repair and maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with contractors and being part of a committee.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and resolving issues.
