Our client is an award winning business established in Dorset almost 30 years ago and is now a well known brand that operates internationally. They are recruiting a Group Financial Controller for their retail business.
You will report into a Group Finance Director and have responsibility for:
- Active management, recruitment and training of the local financial controllers/managers in the UK, Europe, Australasia and Greater China.
- Review of group retail management accounts.
- Preparation of a monthly finance commentary to cover the consolidated P&L to cover key variances in sales and profitability and provide market insight.
- Ensure that best practice is adopted.
- Providing accounting and reporting guidance to local teams and ensure standards are consistently followed.
- Work alongside other internal teams to coordinate and review the sales forecasts, annual budgets and ad hoc financial modelling requests.
- Liaise internally to review the impact of intercompany transactions, such as stock/other purchases, cost of goods and internal pricing.
- Analyse and report on the Sales & Admin costs within the entities.
- Ensuring clear accountability for financial compliance including tax, accounting standards, and corporate policies.
- Guide and encourage the local finance teams to adopt the UK best practice model for finance business partnering and operational support.
- Support the Group Tax and Audit managers in all aspects of tax, audit and statutory reporting.
- Ad Hoc project work and support for the Group Finance Director and wider business as required.
- Mainly office based, but some WFH is possible.
Suitable Candidates
- Qualified accountant ACA / ACCA / CIMA
- Experience in high volume, retail and digital operations.
- Managerial background and experience working within a retail finance team and a passion for technology-driven process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and relationship building.
- Advanced Excel essential and experience of using Google Sheets an advantage.
- Willingness to travel abroad.
- Foreign languages useful but not essential
