Job Title: Family Support Worker

Location: Sherburn, Durham

Salary: £13 - £15 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Family Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will work directly with families to provide practical and emotional support, helping them navigate challenges and access necessary services. This role requires a deep commitment to improving the lives of families and children, with a focus on fostering a safe and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to families, assessing their needs and developing tailored support plans.
  • Offer practical assistance and emotional support to parents and children.
  • Assist families in accessing community resources, including housing, healthcare, education, and financial assistance.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive support for families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions and progress, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Conduct home visits and accompany families to appointments when necessary.
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops on parenting skills, child development, and other relevant topics.
  • Advocate for families needs within the community and with service providers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support plans, adjusting as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Enhanced DBS issued within the last 36 months
  • 2 recent references
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience in a similar role supporting families and children.
  • Strong understanding of child development and family dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for home visits and appointments with Business insurance on the vehicle.
