Duration: Until 29th September 2024 initially, pending further extensions
Rate: Negotiable depending on experience (Inside IR35)

As part of the Children's Services directorate, the authorities Quality Assurance Service is seeking a dedicated Service Manager, to assist with Inspection Readiness and Improvement and to lead continuous service improvements and ensure they meet OFSTED and DfE statutory requirements.

In this high-profile service management role, you will play a crucial part in coordinating all aspects of inspection requirements. You'll work closely with Business Support Leads on inspection logistics and coordinate audits and reviews of tracked children.

The post holder will also have line management responsibilities for two Strengthening Practice Leads.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Lead the directorate in being inspection ready and during any statutory inspection
  • Ensure that relevant, clear, and timely communication of complex information is effective before, during and after an inspection, across the Directorate and to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Support practice improvement alongside the Strategic Lead for Practice Improvement and Principal Social Worker through quality assurance activity
  • Ensure proportionate use of the inspection budget for effective preparation and smooth running of inspections

Requirements:

  • Experience of operating at a senior and political level in complex situations, preferably in relation to service improvement and inspection readiness, either within local government or within another relevant sector
  • Direct experience of quality assurance in a social care setting, including audit and moderation, and leading practice improvement informed by quality assurance activity and inspection
  • Experience of social care management and supervision, including the supervision of others undertaking quality assurance and/or safeguarding activity
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills at all levels, including verbal and written communication, report writing, the delivery of presentations and the ability to interpret, analyse and communicate complex written and statistical information
